Project title/WP: Modelling the economic implications of the adoption of autonomous inland shipping (WP3)

Objectives:
- Develop a conceptual model based on complex-system principles about the different factors (market, policy, technology) influencing the adoption of autonomous inland shipping by shipping companies
- Model socio-economic scenarios for ship-owner’s adoption of autonomous inland shipping
Expected Results:
- Socio-technological analysis of the autonomous inland shipping and interaction with then shipping industry complex-system
- Validated adoption model of autonomous inland shipping that considers the contextual conditions of the technology, business cases and geographical operation
Planned secondment(s):
- CUT (SE): Gathering data about the complex socio-technical system within the shipping industry (M20-22, secondment mentor: S. MacKinnon) (joint secondment with ESR12)
- VTI (SE): Link the theoretical model with practical applications (M25-27, secondment mentor: J. Dahlman)
