Kongsberg Maritime (KM) is part of the Kongsberg group (www.kongsberg.com), and is a major supplier of products and integrated solutions to the maritime industry worldwide. KM has 7600 employees including 400 employees in R&D. The main office is at Kongsberg in Norway with R&D and product centers at several locations in Norway, Sweden and Finland and a global sales, delivery and service network.
KM has a leading position within development of technology for autonomous ships, which has been further strengthened by the take-over of Rolls-Royce Marine in 2019. KM developing and delivering of integrated solutions including control systems, power and propulsion systems, ship design and deck machinery. For Autonomous vessels, the company has conducted full-scale autonomy demonstration of a ferry application in 2018 (“SVAN” project), and is delivering commercial systems for auto-crossing and auto docking. Several other autonomous projects are under development including Yara Birkeland (Short sea shipping vessel under construction) and AUTOSHIP (H2020 project) with demonstration at TRL7 of short sea shipping case and inland waterway case in 2022.
